A modern family enjoys a country lifestyle with an older home that came with an existing porch that they loved. Merge the old with the new in a design that delivers a safe play space for their growing family.
Paint the pool! Design renderings were the beginning, but to make this scene required multiple visits to the site with good old-fashioned (water-soluble) spray paint. Next, the construction team painted each design element to hand mark each detail with our client to form a life-sized rendering of the design detail.
Our client in Red Oak works in the Tech. Industry, but he plays in the country. His new home & growing family know what to expect and has an idea of what they want from a modern custom outdoor environment, but they also want a complementary fit with what they already have. A large, older but well-made patio was in the scene and was beloved as their current entertainment center. So the team visited their home several times & designed a complementary concept right there on the site. Then, working alongside our client, the group merged old with new as if it had been there all along.
The main driver behind this design is safety & privacy. We aligned the pool deck just right to hide behind the house and mate with the existing patio. The pool coping is high contrast but has enough earth tones to bring the pool into the scene. The perimeter seating wall delivers a comfortable hang out, doubles as a small perimeter block for the kids, and brings the setting into harmony with the existing patio.
