Our Work
Complete Outdoor Living — Not Just a Pool
The best outdoor spaces aren't assembled from separate contractors — they're designed as one environment. At Selah Pools, every outdoor kitchen, fire feature, pergola, and pool is planned together from the first design conversation. The result is a cohesive space where the cooking area faces the pool, the fire pit draws the eye from the right angle, and the structure provides shade exactly where families gather.
Across the DFW metroplex, Selah has built outdoor kitchens with built-in grills, pizza ovens, refrigeration, and granite countertops — all engineered for Texas heat, freeze cycles, and year-round use. Fire features range from simple bowls on raised beams to sunken fire pits with conversation-height seating integrated into the pool deck.
Every outdoor living project starts with your family's lifestyle. How you entertain, how many people gather, whether you cook outdoors weekly or seasonally — these answers shape the plan before a single line is drawn.

Outdoor Living Questions
Can you add a fire pit right next to the pool?
Absolutely — and this project is a great example of how to do it well. The sunken fire pit sits at pool water level, which means when you're seated around the fire, you're eye-to-eye with the surface of the pool. It changes the feel of the space completely compared to a fire pit set up on the deck above.
The design requires careful engineering of the gas lines and drainage around the pit, and the seating walls need to integrate with the pool's structural shell. Selah handles all of that as part of the unified design — fire, water, and structure engineered together from the beginning.
How do fire features integrate with naturalistic pool designs?
Fire and water create natural balance in outdoor living spaces, with each element enhancing the other's sensory impact. The Seeley project places a 42-inch fire pit at the opposite end from the spa, creating dual focal points that define different zones for relaxation and gathering. Grey Leuders stone veneer wraps the fire pit — with 16 inches buried for stability — unifying it with the pool's Grey Leuders chipped-edge coping. The homeowner provided the fire pit insert, allowing personalized flame character while our team handled the structural integration into the naturalistic landscape.
Can you integrate outdoor kitchens with pool automation?
Yes, modern pool automation can manage both water features and outdoor living space elements from a single control system. The Lamb residence uses the IQ-904-P bundle to control pool equipment, LED bubblers, lighting, and fire features, creating seamless operation across the complete outdoor environment. This integration allows families to preset lighting scenes, activate water features, and manage the FSoft1400 saltwater system from one interface. The outdoor kitchen's 38-inch Brahma grill, stainless steel storage, and drop-in ice chest were coordinated during construction to ensure gas lines and electrical systems work together seamlessly.
Can outdoor kitchens handle year-round Texas weather?
Properly designed outdoor kitchens extend entertaining seasons far beyond traditional pool usage. The Golovich outdoor kitchen demonstrates how weather-resistant materials and strategic placement create a functional cooking and gathering space that performs through every Texas season. Durable appliances and stone surfaces ensure longevity, while fire features nearby provide warmth during cooler months. Combined with the travertine decking and accent lighting throughout the Golovich outdoor living space, the result is a complete outdoor environment that serves the family year-round—not just during swimming season.
What makes outdoor kitchen storage different from indoor?
The McDaniel project features weather-sealed stainless steel storage including 38-inch S/S Double Doors and the Door/Drawer Combo 38-inch, both designed specifically for outdoor conditions. These components resist moisture, temperature fluctuations, and UV exposure while maintaining smooth operation season after season. Outdoor kitchen storage requires marine-grade materials and specialized sealing systems that indoor cabinetry simply cannot provide. In the McDaniel kitchen, each storage component was positioned to support professional workflow — keeping tools, utensils, and supplies within reach of the cooking zones for efficient outdoor meal preparation.
